Don't Make Dinner During A Tornado!!!

Rachel and I are still getting used to living in the South!

Yesterday evening we were in the kitchen making our fabulously delicious Tuna Noodle Casserole when it happened…the tornado warning siren went off!! We had to turn off the stove and dash into our “safe” place, the hall closet! Flashlight in one hand and Sophie in the other, we squeezed in there. About ten minutes later we were able to come out, and the sirens were silent. So we started cooking and it happened again!! Oh no, the hall closet was too small and VERY claustrophobic, so we moved into the guest room closet (much better!). Well, the siren went off a total of three times, and we did finally get dinner made. And thank the Lord, there were no tornadoes that touched down! I guess we’re broken in now and have become pros, WE KNOW THE DRILL!!

I was able to get some new things posted in my Etsy shop this afternoon, including this toile apron…

Hope ya'll had an UNEVENTFUL and SAFE weekend! I know that I much prefer quiet, calm weekends!

Don't Eat The Ears!

It's beginning to look a lot like Easter...
Bunnies by the front door...

Bunnies on the mantel...

Bunnies are everywhere!

Not to be upstaged, the chicks have also made an appearance...

Now I just need a quick trip to the candy store for chocolate bunnies, jelly beans and those malted eggs...then my life will be complete! (And Rachel, stay AWAY from the BUNNY EARS!)
Has anyone seen the movie "Miss Potter"? I think I'll rent it, I've always loved Beatrix Potter, and since there seems to be a bunny theme going on here...

Just A Touch Of Spring

I was so excited to welcome Spring this past week. We have been blessed with some beautiful warm and sunny days. I was very ready for a bit of Spring color in the garden, so off to the nursery I went! And came home with the back of my car full of plants and bulbs. This planter on my back deck is so pretty with the Rosemary, white snapdragons and lavender colored Johnny Jump-ups.

These narcissus bulbs just popped open as soon as I put them in the planter, also on my back deck.
My front entrance is ready to welcome Spring...

I made this wreath a couple of years ago, and it survived the trip in the moving van all the way to Tennessee! I love the hydrangeas, roses and eggs.

This urn has more narcissus, a pink hyacinth and Rosemary. It's being guarded by one of my many bunnies.

A sweet blue and white birdhouse, made by my BFF, Donna Lynn. I was so excited to find the yellow primrose, you see, they don't get primroses in the nurseries down here as early as they did back in WA. I was spoiled there, we used to see them around Valentine's Day! They are just now arriving in the stores here.

A purple primrose and a very fat bunny (maybe she's preggers).

Aren't these amazing? They smell heavenly.

I love gardening and being outside...the birds have been singing away and just hearing them makes me happy! I hope you are enjoying this new season of Spring.

Victoria Lynn

A Shed of My Own

As long as I can remember, I have dreamed of a little shed in my backyard. You know, a quiet place you can make all your own. With window boxes and a french door... Or maybe hidden like a secret behind the roses and picket fence...
Or surrounded by fantastic cottage gardens...
Or an english garden...and curtains blowing in the breeze...
And it would definitely have to have a place for a comfy, cozy nap...
I had a wonderful weekend of gardening and sunshine! Hope yours was wonderful too!

WooHoo!! I'm Open For Business!!

I’m so excited to announce the opening of my store at Etsy! I have been wanting to get back into selling, sewing and antiquing. So I did it! I have been taking oil painting classes since January and look forward to the day when I can sell my paintings. I found the most wonderful teacher, he teaches in the style of the Old Masters. I am learning so much and having a ton of fun doing it. I have also been working on putting in some gardens in my backyard, sewing and just enjoying my new life. So take a look and let me know what you think…you can click on my sidebar in two places, Sweet Victoria Antiques Shop or Etsy.

Spring Is Almost Here!!

Yesterday I was on the way to my art class. I quickly snapped a picture of these pear trees blooming in downtown Franklin. On my way home, I saw these down my street...aren't they breathtaking?! They remind me of lace.

Today was a beautiful day with blue skies, sun and a high of 75! I took a walk in my backyard and saw these daylillies...

and this rose bush...

Then I sat on my deck and looked at these beauties...

While doing this...

I hope ya'll are having a blessed Spring! I will be back soon to share some exciting news and plans I am working on...until then,

Hugs,
Victoria Lynn
