Summertime And The Living Is Easy
Hope ya'll are having a wonderful first week of summer! The heat has been driving me indoors, except in the early evening. Rachel and I go out each night at twilight to watch the dance of the fireflies! They are just magical, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching them. I have been spending some time in my studio working on pillows for Rachel's pink room. The first one is made with little ruffles...
Well, I'm off to exercize and then my morning mocha soy latte.
The second one... And the third, I couldn't resist using the pink ric-rac trim! Rachel was given a promotion at work on Monday - Congratulations to her for all her hard work! Being her proud mama and all, I just couldn't help but give her these!
Pink roses for a pink girl! You should smell the roses! Amazing, since most roses are bred without any fragrance nowadays. Well, I'm off to exercize and then my morning mocha soy latte.
Hope ya'll have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Victoria Lynn

A little weekend project...
Hope y'all had a relaxing and fun weekend. You may recall when last summer we redid Rachel's bedroom. (See her bedroom here and here ) We found the perfect chandelier, but it was too much at the time. Fast forward to May, and her birthday...guess what one of her gifts was? Yep, the much coveted chandelier. The poor little box has been sitting there for over a month now, just waiting for it's place in the pink boudoir! This weekend we made plans for the little beauty, here is the before ...(sorry, I meant to take a picture before we removed the offending light fixture!) And wa-laaa!! Every girl's dream, a sparkly pink and white petite chandelier. Here is the happy birthday girl modeling it...

Baby, it's hot!
It's been heating up here in Tennessee this week! It's been in the low 90's a couple of days. Luckily it cooled down for a few days, but now it's back in the upper 80's. I am so thankful for my air conditioning!
I've been luxuriating in my cool sewing room and this is what I've been up to...
A new pink dress, complete with ruffles (this dress makes me happy!). A cute little handbag made from some vintage barkcloth. I can't decide if I want to keep the lace or not!

I think I'll grab a glass of sweet tea and go find some shade in the backyard...thank goodness I already mowed the lawn...hmmm...that hammock looks awfully inviting!
Have a good week! And keep cool!
Love and hugs,

A Special Visit
My newly planted roses are starting to bloom. I took this shot of Queen Elizabeth, my favorite rose in my garden. I planted three of them. I don't have many roses blooming yet, so I savor every bloom! My mom was here recently. She visited for 5 weeks! We had so much fun. She had never been to the South before. Here are pictures of our cruise on the General Jackson. It's a paddle wheel river boat. It was a three hour cruise with lunch and a show. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Nashville.

A Garden Update, May 14th
Welcome, dear friend! Please come in... A touch of Spring on the deck...
My new awning, a new place for my fountain, and daylilies, not quite in bloom...
Before photo of the bed beside my stairs (UHG!!)...
And after! Boxwoods and roses all the way, baby!!
A close up of the Jackson & Perkins rose from Diana...
Before photo of the corner garden. Still digging up the sod in this pic!
And after! Three Queen Elizabeth roses and the clematis is just starting to climb the trellis. Next to the downspout is a canna. It is just coming up. I'll have to take another picture later in the season.

Don't Make Dinner During A Tornado!!!
Rachel and I are still getting used to living in the South!
Yesterday evening we were in the kitchen making our fabulously delicious Tuna Noodle Casserole when it happened…the tornado warning siren went off!! We had to turn off the stove and dash into our “safe” place, the hall closet! Flashlight in one hand and Sophie in the other, we squeezed in there. About ten minutes later we were able to come out, and the sirens were silent. So we started cooking and it happened again!! Oh no, the hall closet was too small and VERY claustrophobic, so we moved into the guest room closet (much better!). Well, the siren went off a total of three times, and we did finally get dinner made. And thank the Lord, there were no tornadoes that touched down! I guess we’re broken in now and have become pros, WE KNOW THE DRILL!!
I was able to get some new things posted in my Etsy shop this afternoon, including this toile apron…

Don't Eat The Ears!
It's beginning to look a lot like Easter...
Bunnies by the front door...
Bunnies on the mantel...
Bunnies are everywhere!
Not to be upstaged, the chicks have also made an appearance...
Not to be upstaged, the chicks have also made an appearance...
Now I just need a quick trip to the candy store for chocolate bunnies, jelly beans and those malted eggs...then my life will be complete! (And Rachel, stay AWAY from the BUNNY EARS!)
Has anyone seen the movie "Miss Potter"? I think I'll rent it, I've always loved Beatrix Potter, and since there seems to be a bunny theme going on here...

Just A Touch Of Spring
I was so excited to welcome Spring this past week. We have been blessed with some beautiful warm and sunny days. I was very ready for a bit of Spring color in the garden, so off to the nursery I went! And came home with the back of my car full of plants and bulbs. This planter on my back deck is so pretty with the Rosemary, white snapdragons and lavender colored Johnny Jump-ups.
These narcissus bulbs just popped open as soon as I put them in the planter, also on my back deck.
My front entrance is ready to welcome Spring...
I made this wreath a couple of years ago, and it survived the trip in the moving van all the way to Tennessee! I love the hydrangeas, roses and eggs.
This urn has more narcissus, a pink hyacinth and Rosemary. It's being guarded by one of my many bunnies.
A sweet blue and white birdhouse, made by my BFF, Donna Lynn. I was so excited to find the yellow primrose, you see, they don't get primroses in the nurseries down here as early as they did back in WA. I was spoiled there, we used to see them around Valentine's Day! They are just now arriving in the stores here.
