This first project is one of my favorite Home Decorator's mirrors. These babies were made in the 1960's and 1970's. I just can never have enough of them! They usually run between $12 in junk stores to $30 at antique malls. I snagged this one for $3.99! Did I say I LOVE GOODWILL?!! It was badly painted a red color and not all of the gold had been covered, what WERE they thinking?
AHHH...much better! I sprayed a layer of KILZ and then used Krylon glossy white to finish.
I had a blank spot on my bedroom wall...it fit perfectly! I love how mirrors open up a room!
My next project is a mahogany "telephone table", probably from the 1930's - 1940's. This table was $7.99! It had water rings and staining, and the finish was bubbling up. It's really funny, on the bottom someone had written with a marker, " Property of Harriet Jones, loaned to my nephew at the rental house, house partially furnished." I guess she was worried her nephew was going to steal her furniture! I lightly sanded the bubbles out of the finish, sprayed two layers of KILZ and then finished it with Krylon glossy white. This table makes a perfect tea table in my bedroom!
UGLY...
UGLY...
I have been painting my kitchen, it is taking forever! I bought Behr paint, and I learned a good lesson - it is better to splurge and get good paint than it is to have to paint everything with 4 coats! Anyways, I am working on curtains and a chandelier for the kitchen, then I will post some photos!
I wish everyone a safe and relaxing weekend...get out and see the beauty of Autumn if you can!
Hugs,
Victoria Lynn

Hi Victoria:
Wow what great prices on the mirror and table, no wonder you like shopping there. They turned out wonderful.
I haven't had any luck finding anything good lately, but I still look.

I heart goodwill as well, but have better luck at Thrift Town. I do have to say I love the table and the way it turned out. It reminds me of the tables my mother had.
Great mirror.
Happy Weekend......

Okay, Victoria, which Goodwill did you go to? Please share with a fellow Tennessean. I never have found goodies like that. What a great mirror. I am so JEALOUS!

Hi Victoria Lynn
Wow that mirror was a bargain!! I love the way the whole room looks where you put that side table too, the colors look so pretty! I used Glidden paint when I painted my kitchen and it was horrible!!! I painted four coats also, I didn't think I would ever get it done!!

Hi Victoria Lynn,
I love those mirrors also and have a couple of them. One I painted black and the other one just has it's original white with gold finish and I got them CHEAP too.
I also enjoy seeing your projects and love how they turn out. I haven't tried the spray Kiltz..I just sand and then spray...
Can't wait to see your kitchen.

Deb
