A Franklin Fourth

The other day Rachel and I were driving through the historic area of downtown Franklin and we snapped these photos of some beautiful historic homes all decked out for the Fourth of July. I thought it would be fun to share them. May God bless America!

Happy Fourth,

More From Home

It’s hard to believe that this is the last weekend in the month of June! I wish everyone a fun filled and enjoyable weekend. I have been working on my new house some more and wanted to share more photos with all my beloved blog friends.

My BFF Donna bought this black star for me when she was here visiting. There are a lot of stars on houses, garages and barns here in the South. I love it, and it’s perfect on the plant ledge above my living room. I found the topiary back in Port Orchard. I believe you can NEVER have too many topiaries!

This is my favorite old lithograph of yellow roses. (Sorry about the glare, I’m getting used to a new camera) I was blessed to find it at an estate sale about 6 years ago for only $50! I wish I could find more…Oh well, I’m just happy to have one! Also in the picture is a 1960’s vintage compote dish with crystals. I love these in their original brass or painted white (or even pink…). They’re so versatile (my favorite look is at Christmas, filled with vintage pink glass balls).

A vintage cake plate with yellow roses. And a wrought iron candelabra from Ross ($5!).

This wall is in my bedroom. I love violets and roses together. These two yard longs are reproductions of Paul deLongpre water colors. The plates are some of my collection of vintage violet plates. The dresser is a vintage green wicker dresser with original appliqués. I’m so glad it made it unscathed from the move! Also in the picture is a vintage candelabra, which I painted white, one of my Bunnies By The Bay, and a vintage toleware tray with violets.

A closer look….

More in my bedroom (yes, that’s really a china hutch in my bedroom!). You may remember an earlier post where I painted the buffet it’s sitting on. Here are more of my vintage violet china pieces along with some green depression glass and amethyst glass. My favorite pieces are the large vintage violet platter and the vintage pansy oil painting.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my new home with you!

Hugs,
Victoria Lynn

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like...Home!!

It’s hard to believe that next week will be one month since we rolled into Franklin! It’s been a whirlwind month, but things are finally starting to calm down. More importantly, it’s starting to feel like home. The kitties are in love with the birds that come outside their window each day. Sophie is intrigued with the nightly dance of the fireflies. The weather has been really hot here, in the nineties every day! It’s taking this Washington girl a bit of time to get used to the heat. This morning I was mowing the lawn and it was 90 degrees out! Does that count as double points for a workout?! Here are a few photos of some areas that are starting to look like home…

This is my only true antique, my childhood dresser. It’s been in my family since it was made, around 1860. Donna “made” me buy the candelabra when she was here, doesn’t it look fabulous?!

A blessing for all who enter…and china, of course!

My favorite red velvet chair! Donna has the twin to this in her parlor. I think she’s going to paint hers white too.

I traded for this table when I had my shop…it looks great with that huge apothecary jar…just waiting for the cats to knock over!

Donna helped arrange this wall in my dining room when she was here! And she gave me that sweet iron bird plaque. Thank you, Donna!

Another arrangement by Donna, when I woke up one morning…tada! There it was, just like I had been visited by some decorating faeries! My collection of amber depression glass. I didn’t really like it that much before, but I think it looks great now!

A closer look. That cute little topiary ball came from a shop here in Franklin called Harmony Home. It was only $1.95!

My precious little Sophie napping in her new home…

Now I need to get back to work! God bless, Victoria Lynn

The Lynn Sisters in Nashville!

My beloved BFF, Donna Lynn was here this past week helping me move and get settled. I honestly don’t know how I would have done it without her! We did take an afternoon/evening to shop and explore downtown Nashville. Here are a couple of fun shots! It was blazing hot the whole time she was here. Sadly, she had to return to her own family back in Washington…I miss her so! I am settling in here along with Rachel and our animals, this is such a wonderful area! I am so blessed. Thank you to each and every one of my blogging friends for all of your prayers – God is SO good! Hugs, Victoria Lynn

Welcome to Franklin, Tennessee!!

Day eight, and here we are! I wanted to share some pictures of my new hometown of Franklin, TN. You can check it out at www.franklin-gov.com/visitors/html To quote the visitor’s bureau, “Franklin is a charming, historic, and sophisticated destination located just “100 years and a few short miles from Nashville.” I am completely in love with my pretty new hometown. I think these pictures will show you why! I can hardly wait to do some exploring around town…
