A Little Project

I am ashamed to say I bought this buffet about 15 years ago and planned on refinishing it at the time. So here I am, 15 years later and it’s finished! TA DA!! See, it’s NEVER too late! I loved adding the appliqués and glass knobs; it makes the piece have so much more character! I worked on it right in the middle of my living room, rolling the primer and paint. This was a gutsy move on my part, tempting the fates with a HOUSE SHOWING which actually did happen the next day and I had to hurriedly put it back together and shove it back in the corner!

Victoria,
This turned out so great! White painted furniture is so wonderful, I really do hate dark wood, I do not have a resessive wood gene...I think only men have that gene! Keep painting out the darkness, and into the light! YEA! I must say, great job on your staging! :)

Thanks for the compliments on my buffet, but I have to say, yours is AMAZing! I love it! It was refreshing to see how something so plain with straight lines could be transformed to something so fresh and full of character! Absolutely beautiful. I also appreciated your ode to Rachel Ashwell. I have yet to see the videos. Would you recommend them?

It looks a lot better now...like it actually belongs, instead of being a poor neglected piece of furniture.

It has new life in time for Tennessee! :~)

Changing the color to white makes it so much lovelier and adds a little whimsical feel to it.

Nice work... I like seeing things get wonderful transformations.

So nice of you to share and inspire us to be as daring and patient.

That buffet looks AWESOME the way you did it. It's like a breath of fresh air.

Thanks for posting about RA new DVD. I will have to look into it. She once bought a pink princess shelf from me, and featured it in her show. I wonder if it's on there. It was pretty exciting at the time. :)

Have a good weekend,
Sarah

Oh, wow, Victoria - this came out great!! Well worth the 15 year wait (hee hee!!).. See, yours has the graceful cottage/shabby shape... My pieces, I fear, are still prim/country pieces, even after all the white paint, appliques, and glass knobs! Anyhow, LOVE it!!!... Donna

Hi Victoria!

I found your blog from Donna Lynn's. That is really an incredible job on your bureau! I love shabby chic too and have several cans of spray paint that I am hoping to use soon! There are several things I need to paint. This is great inspiration and incentive to get it done! I'll be adding your link to my favorite blogs!
