Fall Is In The Air In Tennessee!!

Well, I made it through my first summer in the South!! Whew!! After a blazing hot summer here in Middle Tennesse, we have had cooler days and a welcoming rain this week. I met Nerm from Nerm and Kitty, for lunch downtown this past week. It was so fun to meet a blogger friend and chat. We shopped in the historic district and went through all the darling shops. They were getting ready for Fall with all kinds of wonderful decorations. It was inspiring! I decided I couldn’t live another day without at least a tiny bit of Fall décor in my home. So into the moving boxes I ventured. Here is what I came up with…

This display is on my antique dresser in my front entry. These cute little critters are made by Bunnies By The Bay. I just love them…two sweet sisters own the company based in Anacortes, WA. They have been featured in Country Living magazine. I made a “little quilt” to go with the display.

This is “Itsy Bitsy” from Bunnies By The Bay. She is a kitty, handmade from mohair. I love the yummy velvet of her pumpkin costume and all the details, including the velvet millinery flowers in her hat!

This is “scaredy cat”, she is a special edition steiff made by Martha Stewart. I got her about 8 years ago, back when Martha sold things off her website. I just love her, she’s a copy of an older Steiff kitty.

I stole this idea from my BFF, Donna Lynn. I love the shape of this apothecary jar and the fabulous beaded pumpkins from TJ Maxx! Frederica, my daughter’s snow-marbled Bengal kitty, in the background is giving her approval!

This week I have been watching the Republican Convention on TV. And since I have a TV in my studio, I was able to multi-task! I got busy sewing some new curtains for my living/dining rooms. This is the “before” picture. Sage green, BORING, oh-so-not-me curtains!!

There…so much better! I sewed floral panels from a Raymond Waite print that I LOVE!!! It has huge bouquets of roses…very vintage looking. My windows are not very private, I feel like I’m in a fish bowl! So for privacy I added some lace panels between the florals…I love this look!

The fabric has a rich red background with a gold, taupe and green print. My walls are latte, or taupe color. Amazing how the whole room warmed up with the new curtains! And now it reflects my personality and feels like home.

Look at these ROSES!! Don’t you love them?!

Another window…this one still needs the lace panel!

Today I was changing the sheets on my bed and Jasmine decided to help me! Oh, kitties!

I wish you all a wonderful weekend…my heart is with my BFF Donna Lynn, as her eldest son is getting married today…congratulations to Justin and Hannah!! May God bless them!

Hugs,

Victoria Lynn

Our new curtains look fabulous! Frederica is quite delighted by the new fabric to get her kitty fur all over. (She'd like to point out that she did help make the curtains, too. ;~))

I forgot to tell you that Jas tried to jump on my bed while I was making it too--she was very helpful today!

Love,
Rach :~)

Those curtains are awesome! You are so talented and get it done so quickly. I need to stop looking around at all that needs to be done in my life and "just do it". Thank you for sharing those beautiful roses and when I am moved into my new little home, I am going to take that apothecary jar idea and "run with it". Love you and thank you for your prayers.

Hugs,

Debbie Kay

Fall, Fall, Fall, Fall.

Ok, that's out of my system. I love your curtains. I guess the others were like flood curtains. Remember when your pants were to high and you called the flood pants or wadders ? Ok, so....

My doggies do the same when I change my sheets, and they want to know everything I am doing.

Hope your weekend is going well.

Ciao

Dear BFF,
Tonight I am able to take a little time and leave you a comment, the day has been so busy, Nan and the kids left pretty late...we had a ton of fun BTW...
Love your red curtains, as you know it is one of my favorites too, it really helps your paint look warm and much more inviting, the other curtains were just not "you" were they, and I agree with Glenda, they were "floods"!!
Funny! :)

I can't wait till tomorrow night, wink wink, and we shall talk till the cows come home...
XO,
Donna Lynn

Good Morning Glory! Thank you for the invite! So glad to see you again! On this end, we're still prepping to move -- the big day is Tuesday. Well, we leave Tuesday and arrive Wednesday. The kitties don't travel well so we'll go half way then stop for the night. I know I know - no sympathy from you or YOUR kitties since we're moving "only" 400 miles ha ha.

I'll be posting photos soon of my latest work, our new house -- and how it looked after Hurricane Ike daggered a big ol branch clean thru the roof, broke a window, snapped off a number of trees and uprooted shrubs last week.

Yes, Ike made it to central Ohio and left a big ol' mess for us. UGH! But everything has been repaired and we're still good to go Tuesday.

I haven't even seen the place yet except by cell phone photos!! Probably not the best way to choose a house, but I trust my husband -- he knows he has to live with me if I hate the place :-)))).

Glad to hear you're having a beautiful fall!!

Ronda
